Charlie Healy joined the Purdue Athletics staff as an assistant strategic communications director in November, 2019. His responsibilities include the promotion of the women's soccer, track & field and cross country programs.
Prior to coming to Purdue, Healy was an assistant director of athletics communications at West Virginia University from 2015-19. He served as the primary media contact for the baseball and men’s soccer programs and assisted with the daily communication efforts for the football and men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams.
Healy spent two years as a media relations assistant at the University of Kentucky, where he was the primary contact for the volleyball, gymnastics, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and women’s tennis teams. Healy also served as a beat writer for UK’s baseball and softball teams for the “Cat Scratches” blog.
Prior to his time at Kentucky, Healy spent the 2012-13 season at the University of Oklahoma, working as the primary athletic communications contact for the men’s gymnastics and rowing teams and the secondary contact for the men’s basketball team. He also served as the primary contact for the soccer and baseball teams on a temporary basis and assisted with the daily communication efforts for the football team.
Healy was as an athletic communications assistant at the University of Wisconsin from 2011-12. In addition to working as the primary contact for the men’s, women’s and lightweight rowing programs, Healy worked with the UW men’s and women’s hockey teams, serving as a video host and producing highlight and feature videos. He also contributed to Varsity Magazine, UW’s weekly digital magazine, and was the communication department’s video coordinator.
As a student at Wisconsin, Healy served as a member of the video staff, filming and editing feature, promotional and highlight videos for the Badgers. Healy also worked with the women’s hockey team during their national championship run in 2011.
A native of Winnetka, Illinois, Healy graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2011 with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and history.
