Carly Mercer Schmitt
Carly Schmitt was named development associate - annual giving in September 2019 and promoted to assistant director of development - Varsity P in June 2021. In November of 2021 Carly was promoted to director of development. Her responsibilities include maintaining a portfolio of donors and prospects with a high-level annual fund and major gift focus and furthering the overarching athletics department goal of developing student-athletes into scholars, champions, and citizens.
 
Prior to coming to Purdue Athletics, Schmitt served as an account executive at Emplify and as an associate marketing manager at Roche Diagnostics.
 
Schmitt (Mercer) was a member of the Purdue women’s swimming & diving team from 2011 to 2015. She competed primarily in freestyle sprints, establishing and remaining the current program record holder in the 100 freestyle. She qualified and competed in three events at the 2016 USA Swimming Olympic Trials. Schmitt also became the first Purdue woman to earn Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honors three times in a season. During her time as a student, she founded the Boiler-Maker-Wish program, which served the families and children of the West Lafayette and Lafayette communities.
 
A native of Fishers, Indiana, Schmitt earned a bachelor’s degree in speech-language and hearing sciences with a minor in organizational leadership and supervision from Purdue in 2015. Carly is married to Jesse Schmitt (Football '14). They have a golden retriever named Boiler and a rescue dog named Nola. Carly and Jesse are also expecting their first future Boilermaker together in September 2022.
