Carlos Lora joined the Purdue women’s tennis team as a volunteer assistant in the summer of 2021. He assists the program in practice, workout and gameday preparation.
Prior to his arrival in West Lafayette, Lora served for three seasons as the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach at Averett University in Danville, Va.
While serving on staff at his alma mater, Lora helped the Cougars men to a 25-13 record over three seasons, including an NCAA Singles Championship bid for Jorge Figueroa in 2020-21. His time with the Cougar women ended with a 26-12 record. 13 of his student-athletes garnered USA South All-Conference honors.
A three-time USA South Academic All-Conference selection and three-time USA South All-Sportsmanship Team selection while playing for Averett, Lora served as a team captain for the Cougars' men's team. He finished with a 51-29 record in singles play and a 35-26 mark in doubles competition during his career. He also earned USA South Rookie of the Week once as a freshman.
A native of Gurabo, Puerto Rico, Lora graduated from Averett with a bachelor's degree in athletic training in May 2018. He earned his master's of business administration from Averett in May 2020.
