Rich Fisher is in his second season as a volunteer coach with the Purdue track & field team in 2020-21, where he works with the Boilermaker jumpers and multi-event student-athletes.
In 2019-20, Fisher coached two athletes that made the NCAA Indoor Championships, three Big Ten medalists, including a Big Ten champion, and a school record-breaker.
Under Fisher’s guidance, Janae’ Moffitt and Isaiah Martin earned NCAA berths and All-America accolades, as Moffitt won the Big Ten high jump title and Martin took bronze in the heptathlon with a Purdue-record score. Jessica Bray also won silver in the pole vault at the Big Ten meet to join Moffitt as All-Big Ten honorees.
Additionally, Fisher saw Moffitt receive the Big Ten Medal of Honor in addition to being nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year and Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year awards. She was one of six of Fisher’s student-athletes to be named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the Academic All-Big Ten Team or earn Big Ten Distinguished Scholar accolades in 2019-20.
A native of West Berlin, New Jersey, Fisher was a middle distance runner at LSU. He achieved a personal-best 800 time of 1:55.04 at the 2011 LSU Outdoor Invite and a mile time of 4:47.45 at the 2011 LSU Twilight.
Fisher won a team state championship in 2008 at Holy Cross High and guided his team to four consecutive sectional titles.
