Provisionally qualified for NCAA Indoor Championships with a mark of 5.20m/17-00.75, set at the Boilermaker Invitational (2/20); tied for eighth with teammate Kyle Campbell at the Big Ten Indoor Championships (2/28); competed in nine indoor and six outdoor events; qualified for his third straight NCAA Mideast Regional Championship (5/27).
2009 (SOPHOMORE)
Qualified for his second straight NCAA Mideast Regional Championship with his career-best mark of 5.20 meters (17-00.75), cleared at the Billy Hayes Invitational; placed fifth at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, capping a 20-point team showing the pole vault (1st, 2nd, 5th); cleared a top indoor height of 5.10 meters (16-08.75) to place fifth at the indoor conference championships.
2008 (FRESHMAN)
Earned a trip to the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships, clearing 5.05 meters (16-06.75) at the Arizona State Invitational; first marked 5.05 meters (16-06.75) at the Gene Edmonds Cup, garnering Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week honors (1/29).
2007 (REDSHIRT)
Did not compete during his initial season at Purdue.
HIGH SCHOOL
Four-year varsity track and field letterwinner at Lawrence North High School; placed third in the pole vault at the Indiana State High School Indoor Championships as a senior, clearing a high school best of 5.11 meters (16-09.00); three-time National Pole Vault Summit winner and record-setter.

Christopher Michael Thoman was born Oct. 13, 1987, in Indianapolis, Ind.; is the son of Keith Thoman and John and Dianne Weiss; has one brother, John Weiss Jr., and two sisters, Katie Thoman and Laura Weiss; enjoys playing the guitar, boating and water sports; majoring in organizational leadership and supervision.
