Waseem Added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Making an immediate impact in his first five games as a Boilermaker and leading Purdue Football with 453 receiving yards, wide receiver Asaad Waseem has been added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation announced Waseem’s addition Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 7).

The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award.

Waseem’s 453 receiving yards ranks sixth in the Big Ten and 18th nationally. He averages 5.4 receptions per game, ranking ninth in the conference. The FAU transfer has produced a pair of 100-yard receiving games as well as a 98-yard output against Illinois.

In his Boilermaker debut, Waseem hauled in six receptions for 107 yards and one touchdown, the first time a Boilermaker produced a 100-yard receiving game in his debut since All-American Charlie Jones accomplished the feat in 2022. Two weeks later at UCLA, he caught a team-high eight passes for a career-best 149 yards. His 32.7 yards per reception at Illinois was the highest by a Boilermaker with at least three catches in a Big Ten game since Jones averaged 35.8 on four receptions at Indiana (Nov. 26, 2022). Waseem is the eighth Boilermaker in the last 10 years to average 17 yards per catch (minimum three receptions) in three different games in a season.

Following the road victory at Illinois, Waseem and the Boilermakers return home for another Big Ten matchup under the lights of Ross-Ade Stadium (Oct. 10). Purdue hosts Minnesota with an 8 p.m. ET kickoff on BTN.
