WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Almost three years in the making, Ed Snyder, author of Their Times in Indiana, has announced that his next project, Echoes of Mackey, is now available.
The book is available on Amazon.com in both paperback and Kindle eBook formats and is expected to be on shelves locally soon.
Snyder’s book focuses on the Purdue men’s basketball era since Mackey Arena was dedicated in the late 60s. Mackey Arena is considered by many as one of the best college basketball arenas in America and stories about its lore and the Purdue basketball program are captured in the book.
“While Echoes of Mackey is many things, it is first and foremost a gift to the fans of Purdue basketball from more than 175 people who generously contributed to its content. Purdue’s basketball program has become one of the nation’s elite, so I felt it was time that the story of its success and how it has come to be was told through the perspectives and opinions of those who, over the past 60 years, have made Purdue basketball and Mackey Arena the best of what college basketball is all about,” Snyder said. “This book has attempted to tell Purdue’s story, and I hope that its readers have as much fun reading it as I did in putting it together.”
“I have a feeling that our fans will really enjoy this book,” head coach Matt Painter said. “Ed has worked really hard to talk to so many players, coaches and people associated with Purdue Basketball. If you have a passion for Purdue Basketball, this will be on your bookshelf.”
Countless interviews, stories and anecdotes from former Purdue players and staff, national media personalities, Hall of Fame coaches and opposing players fill the over-600 pages of Echoes of Mackey. The interviews are about their experiences of Mackey Arena and specific moments that capture what makes the facility so special.
From Rick Mount to The Three Amigos, to the Baby Boilers, to the players on the 2024 Final Four team, Snyder captures all the emotion and passion that makes this book a must-read for all Purdue fans.
All proceeds from sales will be donated to Purdue Basketball.
