GLENCOE, Ill. – In a 12-team field that featured seven programs ranked in the WGCA Top 25, Purdue Women’s Golf proved the ability to compete against the nation’s best at Lake Shore Country Club. Led by a third-place individual performance from junior Lauren Timpf, the Boilermakers finished fifth at the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
No. 11 Stanford (+4) won the event by six shots over No. 8 Virginia and No. 15 Duke. No. 4 Oregon (+12), placed fourth followed by the Boilermakers (+17), who finished four shots ahead of No. 18 Arizona State (+21). Columbia and Illinois tied for seventh at 28-over, while Northwestern (+32) and No. 9 Iowa State (+34) rounded out the tournament’s Top 10. No. 23 Arizona (+36) and Tulsa (+36) completed the strong field.
Purdue posted the fourth-best final round, a 9-over 293, four shots better than the defending national champions. Lauren Timpf led the way with a 2-under 69, finishing the tournament 3-under for sole possession of third place on the individual leaderboard. Timpf’s three-round total of 210 (71-70-69) was a personal best and cracked the program’s Top 20 for lowest 54-hole scores of all-time. She ranked second in the field in par-4 scoring (-1) and earned the fourth Top 5 finish of her career.
Ashley Kim remained in the Top 15, tying for 14th at 4-over (72-71-74—217) for her eighth Top 20 as a Boilermaker. Luana Valero made a team-high 11 birdies, ranking second in the field, to tie for 24th (70-75-74—219). Samantha Brown rounded out the Purdue contributors, placing 36th individually (73-74-76—223).
Up next, the Boilermakers conclude the fall by going to Texas for the Abilene Christian Intercollegiate (Oct. 19-21), which will be broadcast live on Golf Channel.
