WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Led by a quartet of two-time individual event winners, Purdue Swimming & Diving was victorious in 18 of the 22 events contested Friday in the opening session of a two-day dual meet vs. Oakland.

Swimmers Evan Mackesy (400 IM, 500 Free) and Adele Sands (200 & 500 Free) as well as divers Holden Higbie and Avery Worobel (springboard sweeps) all won both of their individual events Friday. The divers also competed against Louisville. Purdue's divers improved to 14-for-14 in events wins this season while finishing off a flawless showing in October.

A women's freshman record fell for the second meet in a row. Caroline Mallard won the 100 butterfly in 53.24 to eclipse a first-year record that had stood since the 2020 Big Ten Championships. She moved into fifth place in program history overall. Classmate Alayna Riggins finished second while posting the 10th-fastest time (53.73) in team history.

The Boilermakers enjoyed 13 1-2 finishes and went 1-2-3-4 in five events.

Action concludes Saturday with eight more events beginning at 11 a.m.
