GRANBURY, Texas – Samantha Brown soared up the individual leaderboard during the second round of the Abilene Christian Intercollegiate, firing a 3-under 69 to pace No. 23 Purdue Women’s Golf at Halbert National. The Boilermakers (+8) shaved four strokes off their opening round with a 290 (+2), but dropped back to eighth in a competitive field.

Brown recorded her fourth round in the 60s this season and the 11th of her career to move into sixth in program history. The junior bounced back in a big way after a difficult first round, improving by 10 shots. She made four birdies in a 5-hole stretch, including three on par 5s. Brown ended her day with a birdie at the par-4 ninth, her fifth of the round.

Luana Valero also played better in the second round, carding a 73 (+1) for a 5-stroke improvement from the opening 18. Valero’s day was highlighted by three birdies through six holes on the back nine, all on par 4s.

Michaela Headlee and Ashley Kim added 74s (+2) as part of Purdue’s team score. Headlee shot 74 for the second straight day, making four birdies along the way. She nearly holed out for eagle on her final hole, the par-4 ninth, leading to an easy tap-in birdie. Kim tallied a team-high 14 pars throughout her round and sits at 2-over through 36 holes as the leading Boilermaker.

Purdue looks to finish the tournament strong on Wednesday, also the team’s final round of the fall. The live broadcast of the Abilene Christian Intercollegiate begins at 4 p.m. ET on Golf Channel. Additional coverage can be found by following Purdue Women's Golf on X @PurdueWGolf.
