Tindall Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Freshman Addy Tindall was selected as Big Ten Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.

The honor marks the first weekly award of Tindall's career. Purdue's last freshman of the week honor came in 2023 (Taylor Anderson: 11/20/23). Meanwhile, it is the second time a Boilermaker has been recognized this season in the Big Ten weekly honors, joining Dior Charles with her Defensive Player of the Week nod (9/14).

The outside hitter combined for 29 points (25 kills, seven total blocks) and averaged 3.13 kills per set over Purdue's wins vs. USC (3-0) and #24 Illinois (3-2). In each of the matches, she tied a career-high three block assists while also seeing a career-high 51 attempts vs. the Illini.

Tindall recorded 12 kills on a .321 clip vs. USC - the second-most on the floor and just one kill shy of the match leader (Lameen Mambu). She added four blocks, including one solo, as she was on nearly half of Purdue's blocks in the match (four of 10). Not only did Tindall lead the team in attacks (28), but her well-placed attacks contained the Big Ten blocks leader to a season-low.

Against #24 Illinois, she came up big when Purdue needed her most, posting nearly half of her kills in the match (six of 13) in the final two sets, helping to power the Boilers in the Set 4 comeback. The performance included denying Illinois match point as she posted a kill to make it 23-24, then was on the final three points of the set for Purdue- recording back-to-back kills as she tied it at 26-all before giving the Boilermakers the 27-26 edge. Finally, on the next play, she produced the block assist with Dior Charles for set point at 28-26.

Tindall ranks fourth overall in the Big Ten and leads the league's underclassmen in kills/set (3.79). Meanwhile, she checks in at No. 7 in the league in points/set (4.11).
