WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 14-ranked Purdue volleyball squad (2-2) fell to No. 18 TCU Horned Frogs (3-2) in straight sets: 22-25, 19-25, 23-25.
The match served as the first of the season inside Holloway Gymnasium for the Boilermakers, who played in front of a sold-out crowd. Before competition, Art and Connie Euler women’s volleyball coach Dave Shondell was honored for becoming Purdue’s All-Time Wins Leader, commemorated with a framed piece of the net from his 513th win (coming against #12 Texas A&M), and was presented by Vice President - Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tommy McClelland and Associate Athletics Director- Sport Administration Calvin Williams.
In the match against No. 18 TCU, which was Purdue’s third ranked opponent in the first four faced this the season, the Boilermakers struggled to contain an explosive Horned Frogs squad, who led in ever statistical category.
Senior middle blocker Kate Hansen led the team with a .429 clip, totaling seven kills and one error on 14 attacks and a team-leading three blocks. Meanwhile, Dior Charles and Addy Tindall each reached eight kills. Lameen Mambu recorded 13 kills, two digs and a block.
Purdue nearly came back in the third set, with TCU winning a challenge to win match point, and held an 18-13 lead in the second set. Despite Purdue holding the momentum in Set 2, five Purdue errors combined with a quick and efficient TCU offense allowed the Horned Frogs to come from behind.
Taylor Anderson nearly posted a double-double, registering 35 assists, nine digs, two blocks and two kills.
Libero Ryan McAleer recorded 10 digs.

Purdue will be back in Holloway Wednesday against IU Indy at 6:30 p.m. ET on B1G+ before traveling to Nassau, Bahamas for the Paradise Invitational, where the Boilermakers will take on the Houston Cougars on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. ET, followed by either No. 8 SMU or No. 3 Kentucky.
