CHICAGO – Purdue Cross Country recorded 15 personal bests on Friday at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakeside Invitational. The meet also featured a victory by the women’s team in the open 6k section.
Men’s Notes
• Nerius White led the Boilers for a second consecutive meet when he finished 14th out of 153 runners in 23:11.3 in the Lakefront Invitational Championship section. He was the fifth best Big Ten finisher out of 46 in the field. White became the fourth Boilermaker in school history to break 23:12.0 in an 8k and his time is No. 6 all-time.
• Nate Assa finished 45th in 23:33.7, which was a personal best by 1:20.5. His previous personal best was 24:54.2 set last weekend in the season-opener in Terre Haute.
• Hugh Jacobsmeyer ran a personal best 23:39.5 to round out Purdue’s top three. The time was 1:29.6 faster than his previous set last season and 2:30.4 faster than his time in the season opener a week ago.
• Other personal bests on Friday included Thomas Czerwinski (24:16.1), Joseph Redle (24:28.1), Daniel Emmert (24:36.9), Riley Simmonds (24:37.4) and Jace Works (24:53.6).
Women’s Notes
• Purdue’s women’s team won the 6k Open section of the meet with a score of 67. The Boilers scorers, the top five finishers, finished third, fourth, 13th, 22nd and 25th.
• Lauren Pegher’s personal best of 20:39.8 led Purdue and finished fifth. She is the eighth different Boilermaker to break 20:40.0 in a 6k and her time is 11th all-time.
• Katherine Valentine finished one spot behind Pegher in sixth after she ran 20:43.6. She is the 11th different Boilermaker to break 20:45.0.
• Julia Economou was the third Purdue finisher with a personal best 21:09.7. It marks her best 6k by 37.6 seconds.
• Other personal bests on Friday include Sawyer DeWitt (21:23.8), Sofia Munoz (21:28.6), Elizabeth Butler (21:50.7) and Sophia Yon (21:59.1).

The Boilers have two weekends off before returning to the course on Friday, Oct. 16 in Terre Haute, Indiana for the Pre-National Invitational.
