WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue takes on Illinois and Minnesota for its fourth and
fifth Big Ten Conference matches, after earning its second conference victory over
Rutgers on Sunday.
The Boilers are 8-1-1 on the year, and 4-1-0 on the road this season. After an unbeaten
August, Purdue earned its eighth win against Rutgers on the road in mid September, earning its most season-victories since the 2021 season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Fighting Illini are off to a solid start to the season, with a 3-1-5 overall record and a
0-1-2 record in the Big Ten. Most recently, the Fighting Illini took on No. 25 Iowa, ending in a draw. Earlier in September, they battled No. 14 Wisconsin, which also ended in a
draw.
Along with the Fighting Illini, Purdue takes on the Golden Gophers, who are also off to a strong season with a 5-2-2 overall record and a 1-1-1 conference record. Most recently, Minnesota took on Northwestern that ended in a 2-2 draw. However, they did face No. 25 Iowa and earned the 1-0 upset victory.
SERIES HISTORY
Purdue and Illinois have faced one another 30 times in their histories, with the
Fighting Illini leading 17-10-3 in the series. Purdue’s most recent victory was on Sept. 23,
2021, when they won 2-1. The first match between Purdue and Illinois was in 1998, when the Fighting Illini won 4-2.
Purdue and Minnesota have faced one another 27 times in their histories, with the Golden Gophers leading 17-10. Purdue's most recent victory was on Oct. 26th, 2025 where they won 2-0. In addition, the first match between Purdue and Minnesota was also in 1998, when the Golden Gophers won 4-2.
