WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue heads to Rutgers this Sunday for its third Big Ten Conference match, after earning its first conference victory over USC last week.
The Boilers are 7-1-1 on the year, and 3-1-0 on the road this season. After an unbeaten August, Purdue earned its first loss of the season against No. 16 UCLA last week, in a tightly contest 2-1 battle in Los Angeles.
After a dominant opening to the season, the Boilers still lead the country in goals, goal differential, and assists.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Scarlet Knights are off to a balanced start to the season, with a 2-2-3 overall record and a 1-1 record in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knights earned their first conference victory over Oregon, but fell to the No. 12 team in the nation, Washington. Both the Boilers and the Scarlet Knights fell to a ranked conference opponent by a lone goal.
SERIES HISTORY
Purdue and Rutgers have faced one another nine times in their histories with the Scarlet Knights leading 7-1-1 in the series. Purdue’s lone victory against Rutgers was in its most recent matchup on Oct. 17, 2022 where the Boilers took the 2-0 victory.
The first match between the two squads was just under 12 years ago on Oct. 5, 2014 where the No. 25 Scarlet Knights won 4-0.
