WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Football prepares for its first road game of the 2026 season on Saturday (September 19) at UCLA in an 11 p.m. ET kickoff. Ahead of the trip to California, head coach Barry Odom, offensive coordinator Josh Henson and defensive coordinator Kevin Kane took part in their weekly press conference.

I met with the captains this morning and we talked through the details of what the plans look like and the reason why we’re doing that. Also, the understanding of how important this first Big Ten game is for us, and I think our team will respond in a good way.
- Head Coach Barry OdomOne thing you don’t know about a guy is what his internal desire, drive, and attitude towards playing is. When Fame gets the ball in his hands, his attitude is “you’re not going to tackle me.” That’s hard to measure, and you can’t measure that. Along with his talent, I think that type of mindset is what makes him really effective.
- Offensive Coordinator John HensonWe have to be sound… You’re in Big Ten play. Good teams know how to run the ball, so we have to stop the run. We have to be able to line up and be physical and stop it this week.
