WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Dave Shondell was dubbed the Purdue Athletics All-Time Winningest Head Coach following No. 14 Purdue's (1-1) 3-0 takedown of No. 12 Texas A&M (3-3) in Mackey Arena (27-25, 25-23, 25-20). Shondell, in his 24th season with the program, eclipsed Purdue men’s basketball legend Gene Keady.
The win, which came before 10,229 fans, also marked the second consecutive year the Boilermakers have upended the defending national champions on their home court, Shondell’s 101st victory over a ranked opponent, and the 15th win against a ranked opponent over the last six seasons (2021-present).
Outside hitters Addy Tindall and Lameen Mambu combined for 28 kills, three attack errors on 58 attacks. Meanwhile, over Purdue's two matches this season, Tindall has not hit below .460, setting a new career-best with a .536 clip, totaling 16 kills with just one error - which came on the penultimate match point - and three blocks.
The Boilermaker block came through in big moments, finishing with 11, while holding the Aggies to 5, an effort led by middle Kate Hansen (6) and Taylor Anderson (7, including two solo).
Anderson dished out 36 assists while keeping the Boilers steady at a .388 team clip. Meanwhile, she encroached on triple-double watch, adding an errorless five kills, seven total blocks and four digs in the performance.
As a team, Purdue held a pair of AVCA Player of the Year Watch List honorees each under a .215 hitting %.
Since Shondell took the reins in 2003, the Boilermakers have notched a top-25 victory every season.
