SIOUX FALLS – The No. 9 Purdue Boilermakers fell in the season-opener to No. 13 Creighton in five sets, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 25-11, 11-15.
Aces stung the Boilermakers, who lead in every other statistical category – including blocks (16-12), kills (62-52), Hitting % (.219 - .105) and digs (82-65).
Addy Tindall, who played her first collegiate match, made a statement with her 22 kills on a .463 attack % after sitting out her true freshman season due to injury. Tindall’s performance marked the most kills by a Purdue freshman in at least eight years.
Sophomore Lameen “Mimi” Mambu posted a career-high 19 kills in her first match as a Boilermaker.
Meanwhile, senior Dior Charles was on half of the team’s 16 blocks, leading the way with eight.
Taylor Anderson dished out a double-double 44 assists, career-high 17 digs, four kills and five blocks.
Up next, Purdue will prepare for the Big Ten/SEC Challenge, set for Mackey Arena next Tuesday, September 1 vs. the defending national champions No. 8 Texas A&M, followed by Georgia on Wednesday, September 2.
