WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Coming off two big wins last week, Purdue enters its third week of non-conference play with matches against two in-state opponents, Ball State and Southern Indiana.
The Boilers will take on the Ball State Cardinals on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. est at Folk Field for Senior Night, before beginning a four-week stretch on the road at Southern Indiana on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. est.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Cardinals will travel to West Lafayette having started the 2026 season 1-1-1, with a 2-0 win over IU Indy, a 1-1 draw with Butler, and a 2-0 loss at Western Kentucky. Last season, the Cardinals went 10-7-3 and 7-4-1 in the MAC, before ultimately losing to Western Michigan in the MAC Championship semifinals.
Southern Indiana is searching for their first win this season after starting the year 0-2-2. The Screaming Eagles have draws against Wright State and Purdue Fort Wayne, and losses to Middle Tennessee and Akron. In 2025, Southern Indiana went 9-7-5 with a 4-2-3 conference and advanced to the Ohio Valley Conference semifinals.
SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will mark Purdue and Ball State’s seventh matchup in their histories, with Purdue leading the series 5-1. The first match took place on Oct. 27, 2002, when thirteenth ranked Purdue defeated Ball State 2-0 in West Lafayette. The most recent matchup was last season in Muncie, with Purdue taking a 5-2 victory.
Purdue has yet to face Southern Indiana in its history. The Screaming Eagles women’s soccer team first became a Division I program when they joined the OVC in 2022.
