Divers Win 5 Medals, Post 8 Top 10s at Nationals

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – With a medalist four days in a row, the Purdue Divers teamed up to claim five medals while posting eight top-10 finishes at the USA Diving Nationals Championships.

The Boilermakers’ medals were silver for Nathaniel Grannis on 1-meter Saturday as well as Max Miller (3-meter) and Sophie McAfee (10-meter) in Monday’s synchronized events. Individually, Tyler Wills and McAfee also won bronze on 10-meter.

Holden Higbie (5th on 1-meter, 8th on 3-meter) and Amelia Rinehart (10th on 1-meter) also finished top 10 on the springboards for Purdue.

As a rising sophomore, Grannis won silver on 1-meter for his first medal in an individual event at a USA Diving senior national meet. His lifetime best (six-dive) list score of 397.00 in the final moved Grannis into 12th place in program history. The Big Ten All-Freshman Team honoree was 20th on 1-meter at the 2025 USA Diving National Championships held in May of last year.

Wills, a rising junior and an NCAA silver medalist on platform, posted a pair of 400-point lists on 10-meter while winning bronze Sunday, headlined by a strong 445.15-point list in the prelim that had him neck and neck with Olympian (and event winner) Carson Tyler entering the final. Wills earned a place on the podium after taking fourth place on 10-meter individually at the 2025 USA Diving National Championships, 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and 2023 USA Diving Winter Nationals. He ripped a 91-point dive on a reverse 3 ½ (307C) in the penultimate round of Sunday’s final. His 445-point list was a career best at a USA Diving senior national meet.

McAfee won her first medal in an individual event at USA Diving national showcase since the 2024 Winter Nationals. She improved on her prelim score (281.20) in the final (290.80) while remaining in medal contention throughout the prelim and final. The 2025 Purdue grad also won synchro silver with Kayleigh Clark, the NCAA bronze medalist on platform for Florida State this past season.

Miller teamed with fellow native Texan Luke Sitz for silver in 3-meter synchro. They also competed together on 3-meter at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, placing fourth. Sitz won silver individually on 3-meter Friday and is the reigning 1-meter NCAA champion in the event for SMU.
