Easterbrook Named 2nd-Team All-Big Ten

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue junior men’s golfer Sam Easterbrook earned his second career All-Big Ten accolade, being named to the second team the league office announced today.

Easterbrook, from Tomworth, England, earned his second accolade after recording an outstanding regular season for the Boilermakers, who will earn their fifth straight, and 11th in 12 years, NCAA Regional selection later this afternoon.

Easterbrook was a first-team honoree as a sophomore last season.

Easterbrook leads the Boilermakers with a 70.84 stroke average this season, a mark that ranks fourth in Purdue history. He has posted three straight top-10 finishes and has six for the season, good for the fifth most in Purdue history. He recently finished ninth at the Big Ten Championships and posted a runner-up finish at the Hoosier Collegiate, a third-place showing at the Purdue Fall Invitational and a ninth-place finish at the Puerto Rico Classic. He has four top-10 placings in five events this spring and has a team-best 70.47 stroke average during the spring season – a cumulative 14-under par, despite playing very difficult courses.

Easterbrook has 21 rounds of even-par or better, the second most in Purdue history, including even-par or better scores in 12 of 15 rounds this spring. He has posted eight rounds in the 60s, including a season-low 66 in the last round he played at the Big Ten Championships.

For his career, Easterbrook has a 71.99 career stroke average with 15 top-10 finishes in 36 events. He has 54 rounds of even-par or better and is on pace to smash the school record for most even-par rounds of better in Purdue history (Austin Eoff – 65).

Easterbrook’s accolade marks the 15th straight year with an All-Big Ten honoree, dating to Tyler Duncan in 2012.

Purdue will find out its NCAA Regional Championship destination this afternoon at 2 p.m. ET, on the Golf Channel.
