NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – The Purdue men’s golf team dropped two spots in the final standings, finishing the 105th Big Ten Championships in a sixth-place tie at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club outside Portland.
Purdue totaled a 54-hole score of 16-over par 856 (295-275-286) to tie Penn State for sixth. UCLA won the team title at 8-under par 832 and was followed by Illinois (836), Washington (842), Rutgers (850) and USC (854).
It marks Purdue’s seventh top-six finish in the last 10 years and Purdue’s 856 total score is the lowest tournament score by a Purdue team in Big Ten Championships history.
Sam Easterbrook led the Boilermakers with a T-9 finish at 1-under par 209, the lowest 54-hole score in Purdue history at the Big Ten Championships. Easterbrook posted his 15th career top-10 finish, the sixth most in Purdue history. Easterbrook, specifically, tore up the back nine over the final two rounds, shooting an 8-under par 62 on the back nine on Saturday and Sunday.
He also posted his 21st round of even-par or better, good for the second most in Purdue history and his eight rounds in the 60s are currently the eighth most in a season.
In his 11 events this season, he has six top-10 placings, tied for the sixth most in a season in Purdue history.
Kentaro Nanayama wrapped up a strong Big Ten Championships, placing T-17 at 2-over par 212 (72-67-73). He posted his fourth top-20 finish of the season.
Jenson Forrester played the final two rounds in even-par 140, with a pair of rounds of even-par 70.
Andre Zhu finished tied for 69th at 13-over par 223 (72-74-77) and Will Harvey was tied for 74th at 15-over par 225 (76-71-78).
Purdue will now wait for its destination when the NCAA Golf Championships selection show airs on the Golf Channel at 2 p.m. ET, on Wednesday. Purdue will be making its fifth straight, and 11th trip in the last 12 tournaments, appearance in the NCAA Regionals.
