LEXINGTON, Ky. – Purdue Track & Field concluded its opening day of the Jim Green Invitational with victories from Douglas Buckeridge (3000m steeplechase) and Blessing Gideon (long jump).

Men’s Notes
Douglas Buckeridge defending his 3000m steeplechase title at the Jim Green Invitational after he ran 8:50.56 to win the event by over 14 seconds. Teammate Kiefer Bell followed in second in 9:04.70.
• Purdue’s 1500m trip of Hugh Jacobsmeyer (3:48.90), Nathan Walker (3:49.70) and Daniel Emmert (3:50.20) took third, sixth and eighth in the event.
Seamus Malaski (64.69m / 212-03) and Leo Maxwell (62.88m / 206-03) took fifth and seventh in the invite section of the hammer throw, while Jack Harmon (58.64m / 192-05) took fourth in the open.

Women’s Notes
• Gideon took a win in the long jump (6.22m / 20-05.00) in her first competition in the event this season. She entered the Purdue rankings at No. 10 and is the only Boilermaker to rank top 10 in both the long and triple jump.
Marissa Palmer ran a wind-aided 22.98 (+2.4 m/s) in the 200m. After her performance, Palmer will enter the top 30 in the NCAA East Region after heading into Saturday 80th.
Britannia Johnson entered Purdue’s hammer throw rankings at No. 10 after she threw 57.52m (188-08). She took third in the invite section of the event and her sister Britannie Johnson finished seventh (54.46m / 178-08).
Jila Vaden jumped a wind-aided 6.09m (19-11.75) with a +4.2 m/s wind to finish third in the event.
• Distance placed Sofia Munoz third in the 3000m steeplechase (11:05.38) and Lauren Pegher (4:29.79) and Julia Economou (4:35.04) fourth and eighth in the 1500m.
Leena Pfister finished sixth in the javelin (34.84m / 114-04).
Alexia Smith ran a wind-aided 23.43 (+3.1 m/s) to finish eighth.
