BOILERMAKER NOTABLES

  • Purdue now sits at a record of 4-14 (0-9 Big Ten), which includes three of the four wins coming on the team’s home court.
  • Leading the team in singles wins this spring are freshman Jacob Lee (7-5), sophomore Nour Fathalla (6-8), and junior Juan David Velasquez (6-7).
  • At the beginning of the matchup versus No. 18 nationally-ranked Northwestern, Purdue led on the three courts that remained unfinished with Maj Premzl at No. 3 singles, Jacob Lee at No. 5, and Nikola Jovic at No. 6.
  • At No. 14 Illinois, Purdue’s Nour Fathalla led 7-6(4), 2-1 against the No. 17 singles player in the nation, before the match went unfinished.

LOOKING AHEAD

  • Purdue approaches the penultimate week of the season, including the final weekend at home, as they play No. 58 Nebraska on Friday, and No. 35 Wisconsin on Sunday for senior day.
  • No. 58 Nebraska comes off of a tight loss versus No. 35 Wisconsin, 4-2. The Huskers are now 10-10 overall (2-7 Big Ten). In their meeting last year, Nebraska clinched the victory over Purdue 4-1. Then-sophomore Henrik Villanger took Anton Shepp to three tight games, but the match remained unfinished.
  • The Badgers hold an overall record of 14-5 (5-4 Big Ten). Last year, the No. 52 Purdue team suffered a 1-4 loss at No. 53 Wisconsin. The lone win was a huge highlight for then-freshman Maj Premzl, at the No. 4 position, defeating Wisconsin’s Tomas Zlatohlavek in a pair of 6-4 decisions. This was Premzl’s second win in Big Ten play and 10th in the spring season.
