Purdue Finishes Opening Day of the Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Purdue Track & Field started its first of three days split between the Wake Forest Invitational and Tom Jones Memorial with four distance athletes in action at Wake Forest on Thursday.

Men’s Notes
Kiefer Bell took seventh in the invite section of the 3000m steeplechase in 8:53.53 for his third best time in the event. He fell just over four seconds short of his personal best.

Women’s Notes
Julia Economou ran 2:10.61 in the 800m for a new personal best and she took third in the fourth of 11 women’s open 800m heats. Her time topped her previous personal best by 1.13 seconds.

Purdue’s jumps, sprints and throws begin their weekend in Gainesville, Florida on Friday, while distance wraps up their trip to Winston-Salem. The Florida meet begins at noon ET, while the North Carolina meet follows shortly after at 12:40 p.m. ET.
