WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue wins its home opener at Bittinger Stadium 5-0, shutting out the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure to begin the Boilermaker Classic.
The Boilers combined for seven hits, while Brianna Fontenot went the distance on the mound, tossing 7.0 innings with three strikeouts.

Purdue wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning. Bella Douglas launched a two-run homer to left field bringing in Ashlynn Campbell. Maura Condon followed later in the inning with a RBI of her own to score Haley Painter.
After a quiet second inning, Purdue added to its lead in the third as Anna Moore doubled to left center, once again plating Campbell.
The Purdue defense locked it down in the fifth inning, working out of bases loaded to keep the score at 4-0.
Purdue put the game away in the sixth, scoring one more run as pinch-runner, Moriah Polar, scored off Delaney Reefe's RBI double to left center.
The Boilers closed out the 5-0 victory to start the tournament on a hot note, before returning for another lone game tomorrow against Northern Illinois.
