WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue’s women’s tennis team is set to take on the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday, March 7 at 11 a.m. ET.
On Deck
- For the second year in a row, Purdue will open Big Ten play against Indiana. In last year’s matchup, Purdue secured a 4-2 victory at home.
- Hoosiers are ranked in this week’s top 75, coming in at No. 70. Currently, Indiana will enter the matchup with an 8-0 record at home and a 1-2 record on the road.
- Indiana is coming off of a double-header on February 27th, where they split the day with a loss versus UIC and a win versus Chicago State.
Boiler Notables
- Purdue is coming off two straight home wins over the past two weeks. (Ball State: 7-0 and Xavier: 5-2).
- Ece Gencer, ranked No. 117, went on to get yet another singles win, bringing her to a 7-1 record.
- The Boilermakers dominated in singles in their last match, with five court wins propelling them to victory.
- Ida Clement, positioned at No. 2, secured yet another win this season against Madeleine Rexroat during the Xavier match, bringing her spring record to 3-2.
- Kayal Gownder obtained her fourth singles win of the spring season, defeating Ella DeFord (Xavier) with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
- Gencer and Clement pairing secured their second doubles win in a row against Xavier with a 6-4 score.
- The Boilermakers have won seven of the last eight matches against the Hoosiers, dating back to 2018. Of those wins, two were on the road.
- Purdue enters the match with four consecutive Big Ten season-opener victories.
