AWENDAW, S.C. – The Purdue men’s golf team battled breezy conditions in the final round of the Hootie Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Club, finishing tied for fourth in the 15-team event.
The Boilermakers totaled a 54-hole tally of 16-under par 848 on rounds of 276-278-294, to finish 19 shots behind champion College of Charleston. South Carolina finished second at 29-under par, while Kansas surged to third in the final round at 19-under par.
Purdue tied for fourth with Clemson, five shots ahead of Chattanooga in sixth place.
It was the first action for the Boilermakers in over a month as Purdue played in its second of four spring events.
Leading Purdue was freshman Will Harvey, who posted his third top-20 showing of the season with a T-16th placing at 4-under par 212 (68-68-76). He shared the team lead with Kentaro Nanayama, who fired rounds of 68-70-74, for his third top-20 finish as well.
Sam Easterbrook had a strong day in the final round, moving up 19 spots to a 30th-place tie at even-par 216 (69-76-71).
Andre Zhu was tied for 36th at 1-over par 217 (71-69-77) and Supapon Amornchaichan finished tied for 60th at 6-over par 222 (78-71-73).
Playing as an individual, Jenson Forrester finished tied for 47th at 3-over par 219 (73-67-79).
Purdue will be back in action in two weeks at the Calusa Cup in Naples, Florida.
