Boilers Host Beacons for Midweek Matchup

Purdue will host its final matchup of the 14-game homestand taking on the Beacons of Valparaiso Wednesday night at Bittinger Stadium.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue will host its final matchup of the 14-game homestand taking on the Beacons of Valparaiso Wednesday night at Bittinger Stadium.

During week two of Big Ten conference play, the Boilers took a game from No. 18 Oregon, but fell 2-1 in the series. Purdue sits at No. 6 in the conference standings with a 4-2 conference record after sweeping Ohio State in week one.

Including tomorrow’s matchup against Valpo, Purdue only has eight home games left in the regular season slate. Purdue will travel to Michigan, Indiana, Rutgers, and Iowa in the coming weeks. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Valpo comes into the game 13-16 on the season with a 2-6 record in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Beacons most recently fell in the series to Northern Iowa, taking the first game 4-3 before falling 13-0 and 11-6. 

The Beacons are coached by second year head coach Mike Armitage. In 2025, Armitage led the Beacons to their winningest season since 2018.

SERIES HISTORY
Purdue and Valparaiso have met 30 times in their histories. Although both teams are native to Indiana, the last time they met was 13 years ago in 2013. Purdue took the victory in both the first matchup in 1994 as well as in the most recent in 2013. The most recent victory for the Beacons was in 2009.
