YPSILANTI, Mich. – Led by five Boilermakers that qualified for the NCAA Championships in both springboard events, the Purdue Divers earned 12 event bids to the national championship meets over the first two days of the NCAA Zone C Championships.

Avery Worobel, Tyler Wills, Max Miller, Nathaniel Grannis and Zach Welsh all earned the right to compete on both springboards at the NCAA Championships. Grannis was victorious on 1-meter Tuesday to lead a 1-2-3 finish (with Wills and Welsh) for the Boilermakers.

Senior Daryn Wright officially became Purdue’s latest four-year NCAAs qualifier, earning a bid on 3-meter Tuesday after opting not to compete on 1-meter. The Olympian is the ninth Purdue diver to be a four-year NCAAs qualifier.

Holden Higbie (2-for-2), Miller (3-for-3), Welsh (2-for-2), Wills (2-for-2) and Worobel (2-for-2) are all at least halfway to joining that list of four-year qualifiers. Higbie took third on 3-meter Monday as the Boilermakers’ top finisher in the event, earning a trip to Atlanta for the national championship meet.

Grannis and Welsh both climbed the 3-meter leaderboard into the very important top 12 during the event final. By doing so, they added 3-meter to their event lists at NCAAs after auto-qualifying for the national championship meet with their top-3 finishes on 1-meter Tuesday.

Amelia Rinehart is potentially in position to do the same based on her 11th-place finish on 3-meter Tuesday. If the freshman can finish among the top 10 on platform Wednesday at Zones, she’ll not only qualify for NCAAs but also be able to compete on 3-meter in Atlanta.

As Zones conclude Wednesday with both genders competing on platform, the men’s top 9 finishers and the women’s top 10 finishers auto-qualify for NCAAs in the event. Boilermakers that have already auto-qualified for NCAAs in an event only need to be top 12 Wednesday to add platform to their event schedules in Atlanta.

Wednesday’s action features the men’s event at 10:45 a.m. and the women’s at 5:15 p.m.
