PERTH, Australia – Purdue women’s basketball alumna Abbey Ellis added is a WNBL Champion. The former All-Big Ten honoree helped guide the Townsville Fire to the WNBL Finals Championship.
Ellis averaged 11.2 points per game over five games in the playoffs, including 20 points in the semifinal opener against the Southside Melbourne Flyers. In the finals against the Perth Lynx, Ellis tallied 17 points, nine assists, no turnovers and one steal to help the Fire complete the two-game sweep.
Ellis was tabbed the 2025 WNBL Breakout Player of the Year. This season, Ellis averaged 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 assists per game.
Over her three-year career at Purdue, Ellis became the first transfer player in program history to amass 1,000 points and helped lead Purdue to the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
