Vessat Sets 400m School Record at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. and NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Purdue Track & Field’s Samuel Vessat set the 400m school record (45.68) to lead the Boilermakers on a split day of action on Friday.

Men’s Notes
• Vessat’s record-setting performance broke Brian Faust’s previous time of 45.87 set Feb. 27, 2021. He has climbed the ranking from third to first in each of his three 400m races this season. The time entered the top 20 world rankings and currently holds a top 16 spot in the NCAA, which would qualify for nationals.
Zyan Greene rose up Purdue’s 400m rankings to No. 3 after he ran 46.58. The performance is top five in the Big Ten this season.
Daniel Emmert ran 4:07.24 in the mile to win his heat and finish 20th out of 74 competitors. It is the fastest time by a Boilermaker freshman since at least 2009.
• Douglas Buckeridge (14:07.64) and Nerius White (14:13.64) both finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 5000m. The run was White's personal best.
