WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue opened its men’s tennis season with a dominating 7-0 victory vs. Toledo, marking the second straight season-opening sweep against its opponent. The victory included tight matches in doubles play, with the team-point-clincher coming in extras.
The Boilermakers started off the season strong with the doubles point despite close battles across the board, Purdue fought back, with the No. 1 and No. 2 positions clinching the first team point.
The Boilermakers rolled their momentum into singles play, dominating the Rockets across the courts, taking Set 1 in every match.
Nikola Jovic picked up his first collegiate singles win of the year in dominating 6-2, 6-1 fashion as the second court to finish.
The men’s tennis team will return to action on Sunday to kick off a double-header at Schwartz Tennis Center. The men will face Cornell at 11 a.m. ET , followed by the women vs. Illinois State at 3 p.m. ET.
