WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue seniors, Chiara Singarella and Margaux Chauvet joined the ranks of pro Boilermakers after both signing professional contracts this week.
Singarella made it official with Atlético de San Luis on Wednesday, Jan. 7, while Chauvet signed just two days later with Valadares Gaia FC on Friday, Jan. 9.
Singarella and Chauvet are now the 12th and 13th members of Purdue soccer to sign professional contracts, making it an even 30 players the coaching staff has helped get to the next level.
Singarella finished her final two years of elligibility at Purdue, after spending her first season at Kennesaw State and her second at South Alabama. The sophomore was able to follow the USA coaching staff of Richard Moodie and Rob Ward to Purdue to begin a new journey together.
The Mendoza, Argentina native earned various career accolades throughout her collegiate tenure, named United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Third Team, Sun Belt Second Team All-Conference, and also being called up to compete for the Argentinian National Team. Singarella finished her career with 21 goals and 10 assists in 67 matches, while playing 3,987 minutes on the pitch.
Singarella has already begun her time with Atlético de San Luis, a club based in San Luis Potosí. The team competes in Liga MX Femenil, the top division of Mexican football, and plays its home matches at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras
Chauvet signed her second professional contract, after spending two seasons with Sydney FC before headinhg to West Lafayette. With Sydney FC, Chauvet helped to lead the club to a A-League Finale Championship. She was also identified for the Matilda’s Identification Camp and was a part of the future Matilda’s program.
At Purdue, Chauvet spent one season with the Boilermakers, scoring one goal, with one assist while helping be a leader for the Boilers.
Chauvet joins Valadares Gaia FC, a club based in Valadares, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, as a defensive midfielder. The team competes in the top tier of women’s soccer in Portugal, the Campeonato Nacional Feminino or Liga BPI Feminina.
