WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue women’s basketball team is set for its second of five straight games at Mackey Arena with its penultimate non-conference contest against Dayton on Sunday at noon on B1G+.

On Thursday, the Boilermakers posted their largest win of the Katie Gearlds era with an 88-45 victory over Lipscomb. Four Boilermakers reached double figures, led by Tara Daye’s team-best third double-double of the year of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Saige Stahl turned in an all-around performance in 16 minutes on the floor with six points, five rebounds and a career-high six steals. The 45 points allowed were the fewest a Purdue team has given up since the Boilermakers held Chatanooga 34 in a 66-34 victory early in the 2019 season.

GAME NOTES

• Purdue trails the all-time series with Dayton 6-8. The two clubs met eight times between 1979 and 1988, mostly Dayton victories. The two clubs have split the last six years in russia 
• Purdue will debut a fourth jersey of the year with the Retros, paying homage to looks from the late 80s and early 90s. 
• Purdue knocked down 10 3-pointers in the win over the Bisons, marking its third game this season with double-digit triples. Seven different Boilermakers connected from the outside, the most by a Purdue squad in the last 30 years. 
• Daye leads the program in scoring (11.3 PPG) and rebounding (6.7 RPG) this season. The Newark, N.J., native is one of five guards in the Big Ten to average more than 11 points and 6.5 rebounds per night. 
• Purdue has scored 83.2 points per game at home, while holding opponents to 56.5 points. Offensively, Purdue has shot 51.9% and nearly 40% from behind the arc with a rebounding margin if 17.3 boards per game. 
Hila Karsh jumped back into double figures for the first time in seven games with a 10-point outing against Lipscomb. Karsh sits fifth in the Big Ten and 16th among power conference in freshmen scoring at 9.7 points per game. 
• Purdue is playing its third of six straight contests that tip at 12:30 p.m. or earlier. Purdue is 3-1 on the year in games that start before 1 p.m.
• Purdue has dished out 20 or more assists three times this year, already matching last year's total. 
• The Boilermakers are 24-1 under head coach Katie Gearlds when notching 20 dimes in a game.
Kiki Smith has been one of Purdue's primary facilitators recently, recording 20 assists over the last five games, giving her a team-leading 25 dimes. The junior has also lit it up from the outside with 17 made triples on the year to rank second on the team. 
• On the glass, Purdue ranks ninth nationally and leads the Big Ten in defensive rebounding percentage, grabbing 77.9% of missed shots on the defensive end. The Boilermakers are holding opponents to just 6.7 second chance points per game. 
Madison Layden-Zay is now 37 rebounds away from becoming the seventh player in Big Ten history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists, 200 3-pointers and 50 blocks. She would be the second player to join the club this season, alongside Maryland guard Yarden Garzon. 
• Layden-Zay is ninth in the Big Ten in 3-point field goal percentage with a 42.6% clip on 20 made 3-pointers, a career best. The fifth year also ranks 13th in the Big Ten with 31.2 minutes per game.
