THE NEED TO KNOW

  • Purdue is in second place in the Big Ten standings with its best record in conference action since the '80's (12-2 record).
Purdue is 9-1 over the last 10 matches.
  • Middle Lindsey Miller made her return in Set 2 vs. Iowa after being out with injury for eight straight matches. The grad student went errorless on the attack with six kills on 11 swings (.545%), an efficiency that led all players, while adding three block assists in the process.
  • Purdue's won eight straight matches, tied for the longest win streak this season.
  • The Boilers' undefeated record in all away matches this far into the season (14-0 in away and neutral) has only happened one other time, tying 1982's perfect record.
  • The Boilers have pulled off three reverse sweeps (two against ranked opponents and two on the road), setting a program records for most in a season and most against ranked opponents.
  • One of the most efficient teams in the nation, the Boilers rank #13 in the nation with a .284 attack %.
  • Six of Purdue's eight remaining matches in the regular season will be at home.
  • Three TV matches remain: at #11 Wisconsin (11/19 at 8:30 p.m. ET) vs. Northwestern (11/23 at 6:30 p.m. ET), at #20 Minnesota (11/26 at 7 p.m. ET).
  • Purdue's end to the regular-season will be against tough competition with three of the last four matches coming against top-20 programs, including two on the road.

DEFYING EXPECTATIONS

  • Purdue is the only Big Ten team ranked or receiving votes in the poll (joined by 7 other teams) that did not have a preseason All-Big Ten selection.
  • Picked to finish #7 in the league in the preseason poll, Purdue sits in second place in the Big Ten, #9 in the AVCA poll and #6 in the RPI, putting the team in one of the best positions ever for NCAA seeding.
  • The team's 12-2 Big Ten record is the best start under Dave Shondell and the overall best since the '80s.
  • Of the 33 teams recognized in the AVCA poll (ranked or receiving votes), Purdue is joined by Indiana as the only teams to not have a single player recognized in its preseason all-conference teams.
  • After returning just one starter, Purdue's offense is currently the third-most efficient team in its 50+ year history, averaging a .284 attack % (other: 2017 w/ .301 and 1982 w/ .285).
  • The Boilermakers returned just 7.5% of its offense from a year ago (Wollard: 150 kills and Taylor Anderson: 74 kills).

THE MATCHUP VS. OREGON

  • Saturday is slated to be the first-ever matchup against the Ducks in West Lafayette.
  • Although there's been just five matches in the history between the two programs, three have come over the last five years - with two of the three in the NCAA Regionals.
  • Purdue is coming off a 2024 Thanksgiving Eve reverse sweep at Oregon. In the match, Purdue was ranked #9 and Oregon #13. Taylor Anderson totaled 57 assists in the showing.

HISTORY VS. MARYLAND

  • Purdue has dropped just two matches in its 14-match history to Maryland, including one at home (0-3 in 2022).
  • The last time a match went to five sets was 2017 - which was also the last time Maryland played in West Lafayette.
