Buckeridge, Walker Earn All-Big Ten Honors at Big Ten Championships

Purdue Cross Country opened the postseason at the Big Ten Championships on Friday where Douglas Buckeridge earned First Team All-Big Ten and Nathan Walker Earned Second Team All-Big Ten.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Purdue Cross Country opened the postseason at the Big Ten Championships on Friday where Douglas Buckeridge earned First Team All-Big Ten and Nathan Walker Earned Second Team All-Big Ten.

Men’s Notes

• The Boilermakers finished sixth as a team and four of the five teams ahead of Purdue were top 25 nationally ranked teams.
• Buckeridge finished seventh in 23:35.2 to earn his first All-Big Ten honor. He held a top 10 spot in the race across the final 4k. His honor comes after he finished 21st at last season’s Big Ten Championships to fall just one spot short of second team recognition.
• With his race, Buckeridge becomes the seventh different Boilermaker to earn first team honors. The seven Boilers have combined to produce 12 first team campaigns since 1984.
• Walker earned second team honors after he finished 18th in 23:55.6. He moved up seven spots in the final 2k of the race to reach All-Big Ten status for the second team in his career (2023).
Jason Polydoris was Purdue’s top three in 41st in 24:19.3. He climbed 11 places in the final 3k.
Kiefer Bell turned in a 46th-place finish (24:23.6) after he improved 16 places in the final 3k.
Nerius White rounded out Purdue’s scorers in 64th (24:38.4) after he improved 10 places in the final 1k.

Women’s Notes
Julia Economou was Purdue’s top finisher in 100th (21:59.4). She led Purdue in a meet for the first time this season.
Sofia Munoz finished 115th (22:13.9) and she has finished in Purdue’s top two in all three 6k races.
• Elise Packinpaugh took 119th (22:16.0) and improved her placement during every 1k split.
Lauren Pegher in 125th (22:22.4) and Elizabeth Butler in 136th (22:37.8) rounded out Purdue’s top five finishers.
