While the two-day Big Ten Triple Duals (currently with Minnesota and Northwestern) has been an annual co-ed meet for Purdue for nearly 30 years, non-conference triple duals are quite rare. Besides the Big Ten Triple Duals, the Boilermakers’ last triple dual to feature full co-ed representation for three schools was in November 2021 vs. Michigan and Missouri.
Last season’s January home meet was originally scheduled to feature full co-ed representation for both Kentucky and Notre Dame before ND’s men’s swimmers were suspended for the entirety of the campaign (since reinstated).
Purdue is returning the trip to Rochester after Oakland visited West Lafayette in November 2023 for a two-day co-ed dual that also featured the Rutgers women. The Boilermakers were victorious in all three team scores that weekend. Active Boilermakers Caitlin Hurley (100, 200 & 1000 free), Dylan Burau (100 & 200 back), Cooper Callahan (200 IM), Pat Broderick (1650 free), Brinly Hardy (200 fly) and Max Miller (1-meter diving) all won individual events at that meet two years ago.
Purdue’s Michigan natives Grace Ackerman (Grand Haven), Brooklyn Beauch (Byron Center), Ashley Lund (Rockford), Abby Marcukaitis (Middleville), Kate Stanley (Bloomfield Hills) and Blake Rowe (Traverse City) all return to their home state this weekend. Stanley’s hometown is only about 10 miles from Oakland’s campus in the north suburbs of Metro Detroit. Rowe was the only one among that group who did not travel to Ann Arbor for the season-opening Team Be Better Invitational the final Friday of September. Instead, he was among the 12 men’s swimmers chosen to represent the Boilermakers at the Seminole Fall Classic in Tallahassee that weekend.
Purdue opened its dual meet schedule with a co-ed sweep of Missouri on Oct. 18, winning 23 of the 32 overall events. The women host Iowa next Friday for a Big Ten dual.
Cincinnati is also slated to be among the field at the four-day Ohio State Invitational, set for Nov. 18-21 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus. The midseason showcase will feature an order of events that mirrors the revamped format at the NCAA Championships. Along with Purdue, Cincinnati and Ohio State, the meet is also expected to feature co-ed representation for Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Penn State and Yale.
