Boilermakers Record Balanced Effort in Final Scrimmage

Eight players scored between 10 and 20 points in Purdue’s final intra-squad scrimmage in advance of Friday’s exhibition contest against No. 9 Kentucky.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Eight players scored between 10 and 15 points in Purdue’s final intra-squad scrimmage in advance of Friday’s exhibition contest against No. 9 Kentucky.

Gicarri Harris led the squad with 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range. C.J. Cox added 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Braden Smith recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists, while Oscar Cluff went for 14 points and 11 rebounds on 7-of-8 shooting.

Harris also chipped in with four steals and three rebounds. 

Trey Kaufman-Renn also contributed 14 points with six rebounds and four assists.

Jack Benter (12), Fletcher Loyer (11) and Daniel Jacobsen (10) also scored in double figures.

As a team, Purdue went 50-of-94 (.532) from the field, 15-of-50 (.300) from 3-point range and just 16-of-28 (.571) from the free throw line. Purdue had 36 assists against 17 turnovers.

In two intrasquad scrimmages, Kaufman-Renn averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists, while Braden Smith averaged 15.5 points and 12.0 assists per outing.

Daniel Jacobsen and Oscar Cluff combined to average 23.0 points and 16.0 rebounds while shooting 23-of-29 (.793) from the field. Jacobsen went 10-of-11 from the field, while Cluff was 13-of-19.

Purdue will face Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 24, in Rupp Arena, tipping off at 6 p.m. ET, on the SEC Network.
