ROSEMONT, Ill. – Daryn Wright opened her senior season with a springboard sweep at Purdue Swimming & Diving’s home opener, garnering her eighth career Big Ten Diver of the Week honor for the event victories.
Wright claimed the weekly award for the fourth consecutive season, earning four of her eight career honors during the 2024-25 campaign. She has matched Purdue Hall of Famer Carrie McCambridge (2003-06) for the most Big Ten Diver of the Week accolades earned by a Purdue woman.
Led by Wright, the Boilermakers had at least the top three finishers in both women’s springboard events at the 11-team Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate. She was victorious with list totals (and NCAA Zone qualifying scores) of 311.65 on 1-meter and 352.55 on 3-meter, winning by 85 points on 3-meter.
Max Miller and Zach Welsh also teamed up for a sweep of the men’s springboard events for Purdue.
Wright swept the springboard events at the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate for the third time in her career, also accomplishing the feat in 2022 and 2023. While finishing her career 7-for-8 in event wins at Purdue’s annual home-opening meet, only a victory on 3-meter in 2024 eluded the Olympian. She was also recognized as the Big Ten Diver of the Week after her springboard sweep at the 2023 Indiana Intercollegiate.
Wright joins Blake Rowe as Boilermakers from the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center to earn Big Ten weekly honors this season. Rowe was the league’s Swimmer of the Week after he swept the backstroke events at the Seminole Fall Classic the final weekend of September.
The springboard events will be back in the spotlight Saturday as Purdue hosts Missouri for the lone co-ed dual meet of the season at the Burke Aquatic Center. Action begins at 11 a.m.
