WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
Purdue Football is coming off its first bye week of the 2025 season and prepares to face No. 22 Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 4 at noon.

Head coach Barry Odom resumed his weekly press conference on Monday, while both offensive coordinator Josh Henson and defensive coordinator Mike Scherer also took media availability as the Boilermakers returned to their regular game week routine.

In addition to the coaches, quarterback Ryan Browne and defensive back Myles Slusher also addressed the media on Monday.

The Boilermakers gear up to face the Fighting Illini for the Cannon Trophy on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.

You read into the history of the two programs, the battle for the cannon, and how important that is to both sides. The added things to this game, we’re excited about.

- Head Coach Barry Odom

They kept fighting and battling to the very end. I came out of [the Notre Dame game] going “We’re good enough to get the job done, we just have to get better at the details.”

- Offensive Coordinator John Henson

We’ve had time to look in the mirror, say what’s worked and what hasn’t, then go back and pick from the things we’ve done and tell ourselves what we need to do more of.
