Mockobee Lands on Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

ATLANTA – An exemplary Boilermaker on and off the field, senior running back Devin Mockobee earned a spot on the Allstate Wuerrfel Trophy Watch List heading into the 2025 season. The watch list recognized college football players from across the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) who exemplify community service, academic excellence and athletic achievement.

Widely regarded as college football’s premier award for community service, the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy celebrates student-athletes who use their platforms to serve others and create positive change. Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winner and Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel, who turned his football success into a lifelong mission of service, the award reflects his legacy of leadership and humanitarianism. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the trophy’s founding.

A native of Boonville, Indiana, Mockobee gave back to his hometown this summer by making a $10,000 donation to Pioneer Junior Football and Cheer. It was with Pioneer that Mockobee fell in love with the game of football, leading to him being only 1,170 yards away from becoming Purdue’s career leading rusher.

Mockobee enters his senior season ready to lead Purdue and continue climbing the program’s record charts. He already ranks Top 10 in Purdue history in the following career categories: 100-yard rushing games (6th – 8), rushing yards (9th – 2,466) and rushing touchdowns (10th – 19).

After setting the Purdue freshman rushing record and helping the Boilermakers win the Big Ten West in 2022, Mockobee has played in all 24 games over the past two seasons. His biggest game last year was a 168-yard rushing performance at Oregon State, averaging more than 10 yards per carry on a season-high 16 attempts.

The 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy finalists and recipient will be selected by a national voting committee, with input from a fan vote. The 2025 recipient will also serve as Captain of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards show on December 12, airing on ESPN.
