JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Purdue Track & Field women's team started the NCAA East First Round with Alexia Smith (400m) and Zoe Sullivan (100mH) advancing to the quarterfinals of their respective events.
Women's Notes
• Sullivan took third in her heat and finished 16th overall in the First Round in a wind-legal 13.18. The top 12 runners on Thursday ran sub-13.09.
• Smith ran a personal-best 52.40 to finish fourth in her heat and 18th overall. Her time was a .30 personal best and improved her already fourth-ranked 400m time in program history.
• Smith made it past the First Round for the second consecutive season, while Sullivan made it for the first time in her career.
• Jalen Elrod finished 23rd in the long jump (5.97m / 19-07.00).
• Payne Turney finished 37th in the 10,000m (34:52.12). She will also run the 5000m on Saturday night.
Men's Notes
• Both Collin Kao and Grant Gogel finished 32nd and 40th, respectively, in the pole vault after clearing 5.03m (16-06.00). The pole vault was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was rescheduled to Thursday due to inclement weather.

The men's squad returns to the track on Friday to concludes its regionals events scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. The event schedule is subject to change with inclement weather in the forecast.
