Elrod, Miller Earn Spots on Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Watch List

Purdue Outdoor Track & Field's Jalen Elrod and Cameron Miller were named to the Big Ten Outdoor Preseason Watch List on Thursday afternoon.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Outdoor Track & Field's Jalen Elrod and Cameron Miller were named to the Big Ten Outdoor Preseason Watch List on Thursday afternoon.
 
Miller is coming off a record-setting indoor season that featured a third-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships. He earned the Big Ten 200m title in 20.31 one day after he set a school record in the prelims (20.27). He was also the leadoff leg for a Big Ten Champion 4x400m relay that set a school record (3:04.95).
 
The graduate student is the reigning Big Ten Outdoor 200m Champion after he went 20.38 in last season's final. He took ninth at the NCAA First Round (20.25) before a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships (20.36). His 20.25 at the NCAA First Round was a school record.
 
Miller is an eight-time USTFCCCA All-American (four times outdoors) and seven-time all-conference selection. Four of his All-American honors came at Purdue and he earned the other four at Louisville.
 
Elrod became the first pentathlon All-American, first or second team, in Purdue history with her eighth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Her 4,233 points at nationals set a school record for the third consecutive meet. She took silver at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in the pentathlon.
 
She finished fifth in the 2024 Big Ten Outdoor Championships with 5,098 points in the heptathlon. Between her time at Purdue and Prairie View A&M, Elrod has 13 top eight conference finishes in her career.
 
Purdue's outdoor schedule begins March 21-22 at the USF Alumni Invitational.
