WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue swimmer Brady Samuels is headed back to the NCAA Championships for a third time, qualifying for the national championship meet via his team record in the 100 butterfly.

Samuels will also race in the 50 and 100 freestyle in Federal Way, Washington. He'll join the five men's divers for the Boilermakers that also qualified for NCAAs – Jordan Rzepka, Max Miller, Kaden Springfield, Zach Welsh and Tyler Wills. The Purdue men also had six individual qualifiers for the national championship meet as recently as 2022.

March 27 Update: Samuels was entered in 100 fly plus 100 & 200 free (not the 50). The 200 free served as the backup in case he was not Top 30 nationally in the 100 fly (to officially qualify for NCAAs). Even though he had B Cuts in all 4 events, he was not part of the 50 free on Thursday because it wasn't among his original entries. He never intended to swim the 200 free because it falls on the same day as the 100 fly.

Samuels eclipsed the program record in the 100 fly, a mark he has owned since November 2021, at the Toyota U.S. Open Championships in December and the Big Ten Championships in February. His lifetime best of 45.10 ranked 27th nationally and the qualification cutline was set at 28 for most individual swimming events this year.

Samuels also owns NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 50, 100 and 200 free and 100 backstroke. Those times make him eligible to race in those events at NCAAs as well. Because the 100 fly, 100 back and 200 free all fall on the same day (Friday) at championship meets, the 50 and 100 free become his other events at NCAAs.

SAMUELS' SEASON-BEST TIMES & B CUTS
* = Purdue Record
100 Fly – 45.10* /// NCAAs Qualifying Event (Friday)
50 Free – 19.24* /// NCAAs Event (Thursday)
100 Free – 42.01 /// NCAAs Event (Saturday)
200 Free – 1:32.52*
100 Back – 46.74

Samuels also qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2022 and 2023, earning honorable mention All-America accolades with Purdue's 400 free relay team in 2022 and in the 100 back in 2023.

Four divers will also represent Purdue at the women's NCAA Championships. The Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center is the host site of both championship meets this season. The men's NCAA Championships are set for March 26-29.
