CHICAGO – On Wednesday, the Big Ten Conference announced pre-seeds for the upcoming 2025 Big Ten Wrestling Championships hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois.

The projected seeds put redshirt senior Matt Ramos in the top spot of the 125-pound weight class for a second consecutive year and awarded four other Boilers seeds inside the top-10.

A year ago, Ramos became the first Purdue wrestler to hold a No. 1 seed in the Big Ten tournament since Colton Salazar in 2010, and just the fourth top-seeded Boilermaker since 1965.

The undefeated grappler from Lockport, Illinois, is now the first wrestler in school history to be a multiple-time top seed entering the conference championships. He will look to win Purdue's 41st Big Ten title and the first since Ryan Lange (174) in 2004.

Similar to last season, head coach Tony Ersland saw four more of his wrestlers secure top-10 seeds in Joey Blaze (No. 6 at 157), Brody Baumann (No. 8, 174), Greyson Clark (No. 9) and Hayden Filipovich (No. 10). All four are respective career-high spots in the conference tournament.

Sophomores Blaze and Clark became the third true freshman duo in program history to qualify for the NCAA tournament after earning auto-bids at the 2024 Big Ten Championships.

The sophomore duo is locked in for their second postseason.

Stoney Buell (165), Dustin Norris (133), Isaac Ruble (149) and Ben Vanadia (197) all earned the No. 11 seed in each of their brackets. Orlando Cruz, who has jumped up a weight class this season to fill in for the injured James Rowley, will occupy the No. 13 seed at 184.

Official brackets will be revealed closer to the start of this weekend's tournament. The action in Welsh-Ryan Arena begins on Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. ET on BTN.
