WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis squad (7-1) remain undefeated at Schwartz Tennis Center, shutting out Illinois State (4-9), 7-0.
After sweeping doubles play, Purdue took Set 1 in singles on every court. No. 2 singles Juan David Velasquez was the first to finish in a quick 6-0, 6-1 decision to improve to 6-2 on the season and 10-4 overall in 2024-25. Meanwhile, freshman Maj Premzl improves to a perfect 7-0 record in 2025 with his win at No. 5 singles after winning 6-2, 6-2.
The win comes on the heels of the Boilermakers taking down No. 32 Boise State just two days ago, it's most dominant victory over a top-32 team in 11 years.
The Boilermakers are now 12-8 all-time against the Redbirds.
One non-conference match remains for the Boilermakers. Next weekend, Purdue will take on Butler on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET before beginning Big Ten play on the road the following week out west (at USC on Saturday, March 8 and at UCLA on Sunday, March 9).
