The Purdue women's tennis team is back in West Lafayette this weekend, and are looking to extend their five game series winning streak vs. Xavier to six straight on Friday at 1 p.m. ET. Then, Purdue will host Memphis on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. ET.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team is back in West Lafayette this weekend, and are looking to extend their five game series winning streak vs. Xavier to six straight on Friday at 1 p.m. ET. Then, Purdue will host Memphis on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. ET.
 
THINGS TO KNOW:
  • The Boilermakers are looking to bounce back after suffering a 1-6 loss in their first road trip of the season at Kentucky last Sunday.
  • Freshman Ece Gencer has been on a roll, winning five of her last six matches dating back to the Bonita Bay Classic in November.
  • Three singles matches went to first-set tiebreakers at Kentucky, each ending in a narrow 6-7 (5) loss. Juana Larranaga battled to force another tiebreaker in the second set but was unable to close it out.
  • No. 1 doubles duo Carmen Guevara and Tara Milic aim to bounce back after a hard-fought 7-6 (5) loss at Kentucky. The pair started the season strong, winning both of their opening weekend matches together.
 
LOOKING AHEAD:
  • Xavier's women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season last weekend, taking down West Virginia, 6-1.
  • The Musketeers are seeking their first-ever win against the Boilermakers, entering the matchup 0-5 against Purdue since their inaugural meeting in West Lafayette during the 2017 season.
  • Juniors Emily Flowers and Abby Nugent have won back-to-back singles matches for the Musketeers and are the only players on the team with a 2-1 singles record so far this season.
  • The Memphis Tigers women's tennis team secured their first win of the season, going 5-2 over Utah in their meeting at Stanford last Saturday.
  • Tigers' Redshirt-Senior Alice Amendola has won seven of her last 10 matches and is looking for another victory.
