WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Nolan Macklin, Cameron Miller and Antoine Spencer are set to run the seeded 200m at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Ky. on Friday. The rest of the team will compete at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. on Friday and Saturday.
The PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational is a World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze Meeting, allowing participating athletes the chance to earn world ranking points.
Men's Notes
• The men's team came in at No. 23 in the first USTFCCCA rankings of the season. It was Purdue's highest ranking since the team finished No. 13 in 2016.
• Purdue had two events in the top 20 of Event Squad's first rankings this season with the 200m at No. 7 and pole vault at No. 17.
• Miller (20.69) and Spencer (20.97) rank seventh and 19th in the country in the 200m, respectively. Purdue is one of five programs with at least two runners sub-21.
• Brett Otterbacher made his season debut in the 4x400m last weekend and split 46.59 as the second leg. He entered the season second in indoor program history with a 46.83 in the 400m.
• Cale Ayers returns to action this weekend in the weight throw and he currently ranks 10th in the Big Ten (20.15m / 66-01.50).
Women's Notes
• Purdue had four events in the top 20 of Event Squad's first rankings of the season in the 60m hurdles (fourth), 5000m (16th), 400m (18th) and 60m (20th).
• Alexia Smith set an indoor personal best last weekend in the 400m (53.82). She currently ranks fourth in the Big Ten and 30th in the country.
• Payne Turney is coming off the first 5000m victory of her career after she ran 16:43.01 last weekend in Indianapolis. She is set to run the mile this weekend.
• Britannia Johnson (18.86m / 61-10.50) and Britannie Johnson (18.37m / 60-03.25) return to the weight throw this weekend. Both are chasing a spot in the program's top 10 with the current No. 10 spot at 18.92m (62-01.00).
• Zoe Sullivan's 8.08 in the 60mH remains sixth in the country. She is not scheduled to compete this weekend.
