LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Purdue men's golf team struggled early in round one and couldn't rally in the second round of the Windon Memorial Classic at Conway Farms Golf Club.
Round two was postponed due to darkness with the teams having about four holes remaining in round two. The teams will conclude round two on Monday morning, then roll right into the third and final round.
The Boilermakers totaled a first-round score of 15-over par 299 to finish 18 holes in 13th place. Arizona led the field with a score of 5-under par 279. Purdue was nine shots behind sixth-place Marquette.
Nels Surtani led the Boilermakers with a 1-over par 72, good for 21st place. Sam Easterbrook shot a 3-over par 74 for a 37th-place showing after 18 holes.
Freshman Supapon Amornchaichan shot a 5-over par 76, good for 55th place. Kentaro Nanayama shot a 6-over par 77 for 62nd place and Jenson Forrester shot a 7-over par 78 for 69th place.
